so ive come to the conclusion that the culture of vancouver is just like america's except for the fact that they are heading to a more environmentally friendly culture.
but they aren't really there yet.
my campus had just as much recycling hype and "no more styrophome" hype as UBC did.

slackin
do professors have their own culture..
mine, at texas a&m, are starting to form their own stereotype in my mind.
tardiness, half ass lectures, 2 hrs max of lecture which consist of about 4o minutes average of actual relevant material.
is this what college is.. is this what i need to be experiencing and learning to become a sucessful archaeologist, which is their duty as a professor to at least try and mold me into.
i can only think of one professor that is attempting to do this..
and definatly one that is doing quite the opposite.
can i get an amen

burrrn baby burn
it doesnt happen a lot... but saturday i burned myself on the popcorn kettle. its about a 2inch burn.
pretty decent size if i do say so myself. and it hasnt hurt until today.
all in all i worked a tonnnn this weekend and when i wasnt working i was sleeping.
or working on the santa maria.
or the elissa.
michael jackson movie is coming out soon. that should be interesting in a town where everyone loooves michael jackson.
i had to kick two adults out of the movies too which is always really akward.
AND.
get ready for this
i asked a woman to go to the lobby to talk on her phone because she was being loud. and at first she ignored me. then gave me smack about how she is a doctor. and then yelled at me.
i ignored her because i didnt want a confrontation but her god-complex really ticked me off.
JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE A DOCTOR DOESNT MEAN YOU GET TO RUIN EVERYONE ELSES MOVIE.
she was in cloudy with a chance of meatballs and she didnt even have a kid with her.
grow up.
ok rant over. class time.
i get to learn about how china is going to rape us in the next couple of years.
maybe one day my blogs will get interesting.

Do people own their own history??
To me, history is something that does not have measurements that makes sense to me. Can you put a value on history?? If I had to answer the question “Do indigenous people have the right to control their own history and what is written about them?” I would have to say this:
I feel that people own the right to their own history, cultural knowledge, and creations. They should be able to write it and we should trust them to write what is true. To me this would be more accurate than having someone come in and do it. They should share this knowledge though with everyone and not just their own culture, offering it as a piece of human history. Your history is your own, but it is not exclusive and others should be able to interpret it as they please without being punished for using someone’s own history.
Therefore, they should have the right to their own history when it comes to writing it, but not when it comes to interpreting it from an anthropological aspect, such as why they are that way. They should not have rights in the way of people being able to pay them to write their history but they should be the ones who write it.
if that makes sense.
what do you think? internet world?
Graffiti
In honor of the 1 year anniversary of Ike, one of my co-workers and I went and bought chalk and wrote stuff all over the outside of the theatre. She wrote things like "PEACE LOVE GALVESTON" and I wrote things like "GALVESTON: BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO LIVE IN HOUSTON" people took pictures of them which made me feel good. I feel really blessed when I think of how I did not lose anything except the case to my scene it game. One girl who still works at the theatre lost everything including her dog. The theatre did a good job of transfering me to the location in College Station although that was an experience in itself. We are still in the process of fixing things because im pretty sure our A/C guy does not even know what one looks like.
This thursday we are having an employee only showing of spaghetti with a chance of meatballs so I should have something interesting to say about that because we are having a spaghetti dinner and I am cooking.
Which I have trouble doing a lot of times.
or all the time.
peace love and movies
