So, last night at work nothing really good enough to share happened. I ended up getting sent home early. BUT.. i totally forgot to write about the tornado that happened about a week ago.
It was a perfectly normal evening starting out. Kind of slow for a weekend night. It was the end of the night and our old projectionist who is now a manager, thanks to robots running the theatre, decided to help me take the trash out. I collect all of it and get ready to go when I take a glance outside and its windy as hell.
I was said to him, " do i really have to go outside" and he replied "..Yes, we need to hurry before the tornado comes" i anwered back "lovely"
so we go and we had to run to keep up with the trash cans. which made the whole ordeal even more exciting. Then it starts lightening like crazy which freaks me out because the dumpster is covered by a metal gate and fence. We get to it and I was like " There is no way i am putting any part of my body on that metal.
So, being an old army man that was in Viet, he does it for me. It gets even more crazy outside, wind blowing everything everywhere, surrounded by lightening, and he can't get the stupid chain locked so we can go. He's panicking which makes me nervous and when he gets it closed he starts running.
I knew if he was running... I should be sprinting. When we get inside I get the msg that the tornado has hit dolphin world and is headed down seawall... the lights flicker.
Which may not seem like a big deal, except in a movie theatre ALL of the movies stop. So everyone comes out screaming about how their movie stopped.
The machines are new and so no one knows how to restart them and it was a huge mess and I'm having to give updates which are pretty much "We're trying to get them started, if you would like a refund you may go to the concession with your ticket stub" Half of the people threw them away so I get to dig in the trash cans finding them.
We finally get everything situated and by this time it was 11:20 and we were supposed to go home about 11.. and we havnt even started cleaning up.
It's funny now when I reminice about it, but at the time it was havoc and really frigthening until I thought about the fact that I was probably in the safest place for a tornado besies a panic room or whatever they are.
